Real Food Ilkley-October latest

October Market latest: BDC gives the green light

Real Food Ilkley (RFI) have rigourous social distancing measures in place; hand sanitisers and other protocols have not prevented the market being a great success for stallholders, retailers and customers since its re-opening in July.

Following the recent stricter rule changes,  RFI’s meeting last week with the Emergency Planning Department of Bradford District Council resulted in this feedback:

“Having met and discussed plans with organisers of Real Food Ilkley we are confident that all foreseeable risks are being assessed and reasonable endeavours are being made to mitigate the spread of Covid-19 to keep stallholders and customers safe”.

So, safe shopping on Sunday everybody! (we can safely say that now that free samples sadly aren’t available, especially on the booze stalls!)

Now in its fourth year, the market celebrates the rich variety of locally produced food and drink. Real Food Ilkley aims to promote local economic growth by providing a regular opportunity and platform for local producers and sellers of specialist local and seasonal produce.

Real Food Ilkley is a not-for-profit organisation which also works with local community groups to promote volunteering and engage with the community and independent retailers to raise awareness and use of local produce.

Three of Go Loco’s regulars were recent stallholders, Ilkley Kitchen, Pura Local Pantry and Wharfedale Fine Cheeses

Real Food Ilkley CIC has engaged the support of local businesses and obtained funding from Ilkley Parish Council and Ilkley Round Table to facilitate attendance of at least two community groups at each market and for the team to support local “start up” food producers and sellers who support the ethos of the company.

The next market is on Sunday 4th October- see this month’s promotion in Go Loco Food & Drink, with full details of stalls etc to be released on Tuesday 29th
